The Board

Our dedicated and hard working volunteer board members guide our agency and provide their input on policies and procedures.  We host our AGM each year in November.   Please contact us by email or phone for more information.

Our 2020/2021 Board members are: 

Chairperson: Mr. Scott MacDonald 

Scott holds the position of Chairperson of the Board of Directors.  He joined the Board in 2014.  Scott is a Supervisor with the Kawartha Haliburton Children’s Aid Society. 

Vice Chair: Mr. Steve Dyer 

Steve holds the position of Vice Chair of the Board of Directors.  Steve is a Police Officer with the Peterborough Police Service and is currently assigned to Court services.  He joined our board in 2016. 

Past Chair: Mr. James Jordan

Jim is our longest serving Board Member and works as a Family Law Lawyer in Peterborough.  Jim has held the position of Vice Chair, Chairman of the Board, Past Chair and Chair of the Complaints Committee.  

Board Member: Mr. Kaz Nesbitt

Kaz is a CPA and works for Grant Thornton as a Senior Manager of Tax Services.  He joined the Board in 2018 and currently holds the position of Chair of the Finance Committee.  

Board Member:  Ms. Jan Horner

Jan is a retired Youth Probation Officer.  She holds the position of Chair of our Recruitment Committee and Vice Chair of the Personnel Committee.  Jan joined our Board in 2019.  

Board Member:  Ms. Shannon Smith

Shannon is a Family Law Lawyer.  She holds the position of Vice Chair of the Community Relations Committee.  Shannon joined our Board in December 2019.  

Board Member:  Ms. Nancy Best

Nancy is the former Executive Director of Murray McKinnon Foundation, a non-profit youth justice service organization.  She retired from over 30 years of serving youth and their families within Peterborough, surrounding Counties and Durham Region.  Nancy is an active community member and is currently a licensed Realtor with Royal LePage Frank Real Estate, serving Peterborough and the Kawartha Lakes.  

Board Member:  Ms. Diane Calback

Diane joined our Board in March 2021.  She is a Child Welfare Supervisor with Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag Child & Family Services.
